just a touch..

well, i am choosing not to be stressed out today. my kitchen is about to be ripped up and i'll be without a kitchen for two whole days, but i refuse to be stressed about it... so here's a totally unrelated thought.....

george was playing on the stairs and said, "hey mom, there are some orange leaves on our tree!!" i went out to look and sure enough there were the very first leaves of fall!! i love fall leaves, and this scrubby little tree gives the best fall leaves in our whole yard. it's a black tupelo, it's got short little branches and is right in front of our house, so it's been on the list to be cut down several times. when we moved in we had 23 tress in the yard. we have since cut down 8 trees for various reasons, but this one has survived the cut every time because its colored leaves make me so happy every year. so i guess it has evolved a means of survival. here is the very first little taste of fall...


we're even planning our road trip around fall color this year - i can't wait..... but here in ever-green houston, i'll take any little but i can get :)
