We had a really fun trip to Washington DC last week! It was just Dan, me, and my new camera. We took about 600 pictures. I am slowly learning how to use my camera, but I did learn how to adjust shutter speed! This was one of our favorites. More to come!!!

dan surprised me with a new fancy shmancy camera for my birthday. i don't pretend to know what i'm doing, but it's amazing what you can do with zero know-how and excellent equipment. i've gotten some really cool shots so far, but this is by far one of my favorite.

Chicken soup for the throat....

i was feeling pretty sick today with my mystery virus that feels like strep throat and lamenting the fact that i had no chicken soup. while trying to figure out how to remedy that (go buy some? drive through and get chick-fil-a chicken soup?) but not wanting to leave the house, i decided to check my recipe box... i had a vague memory of a chicken soup recipe in there somewhere. i found this one, from my sister-in-law melissa and it saved the day.

Easy Chicken Soup

2 cans (14 oz) chicken broth
1 medium carrot - sliced
1-2 stalks celery sliced (you can use it if you want, but as for me and my soup, i choose no celery)
1 cup uncooked medium egg noodles
1/2 cup cooked chicken (i used 1 pouch of chicken)

Combine broth, carrot, and celery (salt and pepper to taste) and heat to a boil. Add noodles and chicken. Simmer until noodles are cooked.

You would need to double (or triple!) it to feed a whole family.


Way tastier than canned soup, and way better because you can see what goes in it. (No mystery ingredients.)

This is Halloween, This is Halloween!

The boys have been counting down to halloween for SOO long! Here is some of the anticipation:

Dan pulled out the 'ween box and Ben donned his old ghost costume, glowy pumpkin, and antennas... the octopus came along for the ride...

Here are some fun Ghost cookies we made for a a little party with my family.





I made all the kids' costumes this year, so I was checking to make sure the wings I made fit the little dragon....





We had Medieval Halloween! The boys thought of their own costumes (except Henry of course)

The boys pumpkins! They drew the faces and we traced them onto the pumpkins! George's is on the left and Ben's is on the right. (I like the 'stache on Ben's...)
